In Taupō we have a very active and diverse cycle community. This is not a complete list but some of the favourite things riders look forward to in the Taupō District are:
Monday Night Duathlons and Triathlons
AC Baths/Acacia Bay/Wharewaka throughout summer. Tri-Sport Taupō have a great family atmosphere with kids racing parents over a variety of courses around Taupō. These are a great triathlon starter for people wanting to hone their skills at running off a bike.
Tuesday Night Road Racing
The Taupō Road Cycling Club hold graded races around the 3.4km circuit at the Taupō Motorsport Park. With no traffic to deal with you get good at riding in a bunch and test your legs against Taupō's best.
Wednesday Night Track
The Taupō Cycling Club hold a track training and race night at the Taupō Velodrome situated in Owen Delany Park.
Wednesday BMX Training
To get into BMX racing head to the Crown Park BMX Track Summer training and races on Wednesday evenings.
Thursday Night MTB Races
The Craters MTB Park Thursday night mountain bike races scheduled during summer are a great way to keep fit and have fun in a relaxed environment. Held by the Taupō Mountain Bike Club, these races cater for every ability and it is a lap race that is handicapped for faster and slower riders to all finish at the same time. There are up to 120 people turning out for these!
Sunday Morning Social Road Rides
Join in the fun with the Taupō Cycling Club and experience the beauty of our district, then debrief with a coffee at a local cafe.
