    Wairakei MTB Park

    just north of Taupo, near Huka Falls and Craters of the Moon

    Please note that Wairakei park is a shared forest park. The MTB zones are clearly marked in green on our Wairakei maps.

    From December 2009 the Crown will be actively checking for any biking activity outside the permitted zones and where appropriate will take enforcement and legal action against repeat offenders.

    Town Gullies Cycling and Walking Tracks

    Bike Taupo has initiated the development of Taupo's hidden gullies as recreational paths. There are quite a few undeveloped TDC reserves, which can be turned into landscaped, safe cycling and walking routes. Those are linking residential areas with schools, shops and the lake. Maps can be downloaded from here.
